The UMOM Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation Women's Center opened in July to help single homeless women of Maricopa County. It is the first shelter in the county specifically for homeless single women. UMOM has worked with single homeless women for the past 20 years. Until now, these women were provided with one meal and overnight lodging in a shared dormitory with 130 cots and 30 showers.

The Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation Women's Center is located on the site of a former hotel, purchased by UMOM and refurbished to create a safe shelter environment for these women to rebuild their lives. The women will stay on the UMOM campus during the day so they can take advantage of the programs and services they need to move from homelessness to permanent housing.

Approximately 130 women will live up to 120 days in the new center. UMOM will reserve two spaces for women brought in by first responders.

UMOM Women's Center Shelter Provides:
  • Two and three person rooms
  • Private baths
  • Emergency notification systems in each room
  • Three meals cooked on site daily
  • Access to laundry facilities
  • Locked storage space for personal belongings
  • Security and safety staff on site 24/7
